PRODUCT OVERVIEW

Ligature Resistant Hardware. Purpose Built.

The ERSO Restraint Anchor is the only purpose-built anti-ligature restraint anchor that provides a safe patient restraint point while completely mitigating any ligature risk when not in clinical use. Shaped through direct beta-testing with Behavioral Health Associates, nursing staff, and facility administrators.

1.

Flush-Mount Design, No Exposed Ligature Points

Retracts completely flush with the floor, wall, or furniture surface when not in use. No exposed ring, hook, or hardware, mitigating any ligature hazard to unsupervised patients.

2.

Customisable Anchor Placement

The number and placement of anchors on a bed, chair, or furniture can be configured to meet the specific clinical and facility requirements of each installation.

3.

Spring-Loaded Activation Mechanism

Authorized staff deploy the anchor on demand using a specialised key. The spring-loaded mechanism rises smoothly to its operational position and locks securely back flush after use.

4.

Superior Infection Control

Engineered to prevent patient tampering with unit openings. Surface profile minimises contamination buildup — designed for the hygiene demands of acute behavioral health settings.

5.

Visually Unobtrusive

Machined from solid stainless steel with a considered, low-profile form. Designed to disappear into the aesthetics of therapeutic environments — with clinicians and patient populations in mind.

6.

Retrofit and New Construction Ready

Designed for direct integration into existing or newly manufactured psychiatric beds and/or furniture or for installation into floors, walls, masonry and/or drywall

INSTALLATION

Seven Installation Methods. One Product.

The ERSO Restraint Anchor is engineered for installation across virtually any surface condition — new build or retrofit. Every method results in a fully flush, ligature resistant finish.

Method 01

Anti-Ligature Psychiatric Beds & Furniture

Retrofit into existing plastic or wood-frame psychiatric beds and furniture, or integrated during the manufacturing process by furniture OEMs.

Method 02

Retrofit Concrete Floors

Core-drilled into existing concrete slab and anchored with double expansion anchors and anchoring cement, set to finished floor height.

Method 03

New Construction Floors

Set to the height of the finished floor and poured in place during construction with an anchor strap for permanent, flush installation.

Method 04

Wood Floors

Set to finished floor height and bolted or screwed to heavy metal or wood grounds, mechanically fastened to floor joists beneath.

Method 05

High-Abuse Drywall Walls

Anchored to grounds set flush with the finished wall surface. Through-bolted or welded to steel grounds for a secure, flush wall-mounted installation.

Method 06

New Masonry — Block or Brick

Set into mortar with a strap anchor or through-bolted with a flitch plate after the wall has fully cured.

Method 07

Retrofit Masonry

Core-drilled into existing masonry and secured with double expansion anchors and anchoring cement, or through-bolted with a flitch plate.

COMPLIANCE & STANDARDS

Engineered to Meet Anti-Ligature Requirements

The ERSO Restraint Anchor was designed from the ground up to address the specific anti-ligature requirements of The Joint Commission and related behavioral health and correctional safety standards.

Joint Commission Ligature Risk

Eliminates the external ring and anchor point that triggers citations during behavioral health surveys. When flush-locked, no ligature point exists.

Infection Prevention and Control

Surface profile and engineering designed to minimise contamination buildup and prevent patient tampering with openings — meeting infection control requirements in acute settings.

Patient Safety and Restraint Standards

Shaped through direct feedback with clinical staff to meet the functional demands of patient restraint protocols in behavioral health and correctional facilities.

Independent Third-Party Tested

The ERSO Restraint Anchor underwent a full end-to-end independent third-party evaluation — not manufacturer self-certification.

Multiple additional patents pending. The ERSO Restraint Anchor is the only purpose-built, patented hardware solution addressing the ligature risk compliance gap in restraint anchor systems.

Frequently Asked Questions

Have questions about the ERSO Restraint Anchor, installation methods, or product specifications?

Browse the FAQs below or contact our team directly.

  • The ERSO Restraint Anchor is machined from solid stainless steel with no welds. This gives it superior structural integrity compared to welded alternatives, eliminates potential failure points, and meets the hygiene and durability demands of acute behavioral health and correctional environments.

  • The anchor is deployed by authorised staff using a specialised key. The spring-loaded mechanism rises to its operational position when activated and locks back flush after use. The design ensures only trained personnel can deploy the anchor, preventing unsupervised patient access at all times.

  • The number and placement of anchors can be fully customised to meet the specific clinical protocols and layout requirements of each facility. Contact the ERSO team to discuss your restraint configuration requirements.

  • Installation should be carried out by a qualified contractor familiar with the relevant surface type. ERSO provides full installation guidance across all seven supported methods, covering concrete floors, wood floors, masonry walls, drywall, and direct integration into psychiatric beds and furniture.

  • Retrofit installation is designed to be minimally invasive. For concrete floors, a core drill is used to create a clean opening. For furniture, the anchor is bolted or integrated without requiring structural modification to the surrounding frame or surface.

  • Contact the ERSO Engineering Solutions team directly for current product specifications, sizing options, and finish details to confirm suitability for your facility's requirements.

  • Yes. The anchor has been in active use for approximately three years across juvenile and adult behavioral health populations and within the Psychiatric Patient Unit at the NYC Department of Corrections. This real-world deployment informed ongoing product refinements to the locking mechanism, infection control features, and overall end-user experience.
